National  center of Contemporary Art ,Moscow.

Modern artist feels awkward to speak about beauty and national tradition. The art, which is called contemporary, is ready to be spectacular, disgusting, smart, or none whatever, rather than fine. It is called national only by force of circumstances. The Russian note is striken with a big chance of going off pitch.
The majority of the exhibition participants are from St.Petersburg, which is no more “truly Russian” city than Kaliningrad or Vyborg.
The resistance of the theme guarantees that the exhibition will reveal the actual situation. We will see the beauty of today, how it looks after postmodern skepsis, irony on nationalistic ideology and anxiety from art-auction routine and awkward efforts to believe once more in socialism.

It is an attempt to see the “Russian beauty” without commas, free from the set patterns, in the natural organic form, taken at least from everyday life.
